Our Story
The story of Helen’s European Cuisine begins, quite simply, with the woman herself. Using recipes inspired by her own Mediterranean heritage and a passionate approach to cooking, company founder Helen Zeniou began her journey creating unique pastries, lasagnes and quiches for a single coffee shop. Word of mouth spread, Helen’s handmade meals encountered growing demand - and Helen’s European Cuisine was created.

Now 20 years on, Helen has moved from the kitchen of her family home into a state-of-the-art commercial facility and expanded her team to include 65 dedicated staff members. Helen’s European Cuisine has grown to become the market leader in European specialty foods and a major producer and supplier of fine quality foods throughout Australia.

Helen's European Cuisine provides an extensive and versatile range of gourmet savoury products, as well as a select range of gourmet sweets. Our products are diverse and available in a range of sizes, from individual portions and bite-sized finger foods, to large display cabinet items. Our products reach a widespread marketplace, available from up-market cafes, delicatessens, hotels and pubs, plus other outlets supplied by our vast network of independent distributors.

At Helen's European Cuisine we are devoted to ensuring the highest levels of quality, taste, consistency and service. This dedication is evident throughout our production, manufacturing and distribution processes. From the very beginning, fresh produce is hand-picked from local markets and premium ingredients sourced from quality suppliers. Produce is meticulously washed, sorted and sliced, then mixed and cooked with other fine ingredients to create our mouth-watering fillings and sauces. The various mixes are then hand-assembled into our quality selection of pastries and doughs, laid out on trays and oven-baked until golden brown. After cooking, products are snap frozen and carefully packed to ensure maximum freshness.

Helen's European Cuisine aims to develop new and innovative products, whilst maintaining consistency of our existing product range. Ongoing trials incorporating fresh ideas and concepts with traditional tried and tested recipes, means we are constantly evolving our extensive menu to deliver the best European specialty foods in the market.

While our focus is on fine handmade foods, we’re always looking at different avenues to improve efficiencies. Investment in new technology, as well as adapting existing technology to better suit our needs, plays a significant part in this progression.

In recent years we have upgraded our manufacturing facility, now comprising a spacious state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, featuring the latest in industry equipment. Custom-designed and built to our own personal specifications, it meets our ever-growing needs. This expansion has helped fuel the growth of our corporate manufacturing branch, enabling us to develop and manufacture specialised product lines unique to a number of individual businesses.

Health and safety is also a top priority at Helen’s, so you can rest assured the food you are receiving meets the highest possible standards. In addition to proudly maintaining our 5 Star Rating awarded by Brisbane City Council, we have heightened our HACCP Certification by implementing the globally recognised SQF 2000 Food Safety and Quality Management System.

  • Most defrosted products have 5–7 days shelf life stored at 4°c or below.
  • Frozen products have 10 months shelf life stored at -18°c or below.
  • All of our products are microwave friendly and only require re-heating.
  • Products can be displayed in your COLD DISPLAY or in your HOT BOX.
  • We can produce Point Of Sale signs for all of our products upon request.
  • Our products are consistent and have sensational presentation.
  • New packaging and pre-slicing of selected products allows for easier stock control and minimal waste.

What Health & Safety standards does Helen’s European Cuisine have in place?
Helen’s European Cuisine products are produced and manufactured under The SQF 2000 process and product certification standard. Our Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)-based food safety and quality management system is globally recognised, approved and certified. What are your payment methods?
Helen's European Cuisine accepts cash and cheques for COD customers. If you are a credit approved customer, EFT payments are also accepted. Please contact your local distributor for their payment terms.
